I would like to ask your help at
a really crucial time for everyone affected by liver disease. The
Government has conducted a review of liver disease, who is affected
and how they are treated. There is now an opportunity for the Government
to take action to ensure that people across the country benefit from
improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
However, liver disease has always been in the shadows,
suffering stigma, and low levels of public awareness. There is a
real risk that the Government will think that tackling liver problems
is too hard and not a political priority.
We need your help in raising awareness amongst the
political decision makers. We need you to tell them what it is like
to live with liver disease and what currently happens to people
when they are diagnosed, treated and cared for for their liver problems.
Most importantly, we want them to hear from you what should happen
in
the future.
We would like you to contact your Member of Parliament,
by letter, email or in person at their regular surgery. You can
find out who your MP is by entering your postcode on this website
http://www.parliament.uklaboutlcontacting/mp.cfm
or by calling Parliament on 020 7219 4272.
There is an example letter attached(click
here to see). If you have access to email, you can also send
a letter to your MP through this website www.writetothem.com.
You can use some of the text we have drafted, but please make sure
you include details about your own experience rather than just using
the general text. As your constituency MP, it is your view of local
services and what actually happened to you that they are interested
in!
We would be very grateful if you could pass back to us any feedback
that you have from your MP and we will of course, be very happy
to support you in taking this forward. We really appreciate your
help in contributing to this campaign to improve liver services
and bringing the patient's voice to the heart of government.
Yours sincerely,
Chief Executive
